Ideas For Home Based Business

Are you after ideas for a home based business? With the current recession now dragging on people are looking for other ways to secure their financial future. They can no longer rely on a job for life nor a pension that will retain its value. The thought of commuting to a second job puts most people off so the idea of a home based business is very appealing. I am someone who has looked at a number of opportunities of the last view years and can reveal what to look for and what to avoid.Beware of businesses that say they will do everything for you. If that was true then why would they need you? These opportunities need you to buy the product and then sell it on to others. But if the websites you are given are all the same, how can you customise them so they are unique to you? How can you customise them so they optimised for the search engines.
What is the price point of the product and what do you get for your money? There is a wide discrepancy in prices for business opportunities, some under $100 and some go up to over $5000. In my experience the higher priced products are pitched at that level so that they give big commissions to the sellers. These big commissions are then used as a carrot to bring in new affiliates. So really check what you are getting for your money, don't just assume that a higher priced product is better than a lower priced product.
Many product sales pages will have testimonials. You want to actually speak to someone that is not on the sales page. For every one successful business owner there could be many more that bought the product and did not succeed. You need to find out that ratio.
To what extent will the business opportunity allow their name to be used in advertising. Many companies want to retain absolute control on advertising by their distributors, particularly in heavily regulated industries. You need some element of freedom to do your own advertising if you are to stand out from the crowd. You need your own website and blog. Do NOT rely on the company site. That website is the same for everyone and gets no ranking by the search engines.
What level of support will you get and how easy is it to reach. A friend of mine bought a $5000 product which boasted excellent company support of trained internet marketing advisers. Yet he could never get through. On hold for 20 minutes and then was told to leave a message. Did they call back? No.
If they hold offline training, where is it held, and how far away from you? It could be the other side of the country and even overseas. If the annual convention is in Hawaii and you are in Europe, well it's a long flight and not cheap.
What level of computer skills will you need? A business might try to convince you that none are required. My experience is the more skills you have the better, in web page design, copywriting and search engine optimisation.
Find something you are passionate about. If you don't believe in the product then neither will your potential customers.Follow these simple guidelines and you will greatly increase your chances of finding a business that is right for you.I wish you every success.
