Michael Clouse and Nexera - A Critical Review

Michael Clouse is the editor of Nexera e-news, a publishing company that produces materials to assist people in the MLM industry. He is also a popular speaker at MLM conferences, and the author of many books on the subject of MLM success as well.While he has many fans and supporters, he is not without his critics. Let's take a closer look at this MLM guru.Michael Clouse: Sales and MotivationSelling and motivating is really what Clouse is all about. He has quality stuff on mindset and motivation, but the issue for me was with his prospecting systems. He advocated going out to public places like airports, coffee shops, etc, and handing out business cards and "meeting people". The system was about building a friendship, and then recruiting your new friend into your network marketing business. After a person makes a new friend, you are supposed to follow up and 3-way them into a sizzle call, and then a meeting, and finally get an upline leader on the phone to close the deal.I tried it myself back in my early days, and was promptly escorted out of many a retail store. Those that had pity and gave me the time of day lost patience when I plugged them into a sizzle call. After several experiences like that, I decided to stop that type of stuff altogether, and focus on the skill of lead generation.While prospecting/presenting/closing is important, it doesn't matter if you're spending your time with leads that don't want what you have. The best salesman in the world won't get anywhere trying to sale makeup to a 60 year old male Vietnam vet!Make sure you give lead generation as much attention as you do the other systems in your business - otherwise, you'll find yourself as a salesperson with nobody to sell to.
