Partylite was founded on a principles and desire of one woman, Mabel Baker. She had a candle business and wanted to share the candles around the world. In 1965, she died and her legacy would live on. In 1973, her dream would live on in the form of Partylite. In 1990, Blyth acquired Partylite.The Good This is one of the few network marketing companies in the candle business, so competition is small in the industry, but often you are going to compete up with the retail market. The nice part about Partylite, is that they have more products like flameless scents, home decor, bath and body products. Top money earners in this company are abandoning the parties and truly marketing it through online marketing.The Bad One area that I challenge people with is. this is not a home based business, you are generally chasing people to have parties, and for them to become consultants for future parties. They focus on the burning candle parties, but this will prevent your business from expanding, because you need to train and support your people, so it keeps them in more of a tight net. Another issue, as I see it, is the economic position of this business. Now, their model revolves around friend telling friends. The only way the host benefits is they get free product if people sign up to host another party, the host signs up to be a distributor, or you sell out everyone you know and give all those names to the consultant in your home. If someone can go get candles, why would they want to pay inflated prices? This issue just burns me. The problem is that most people in Partylite do not know how to market like the top money earners, and they do not show others how to do it. They have learned marketing techniques or they had marketing backgrounds. A lot have not learned the techniques to use technology.Conclusion If you love candles, you need to market to a core group of prospects. No, you do not want to bug your friends and family. Yes, the market is wide open through this channel, but convince people to spend a little more and deliver value over the cheap supermarket candles and air fresheners. But remember, you will not see the rewards unless you are getting the proper training to market on the net and social medias, and you do not want to have to work at other peoples homes and put on parties.
