How to Make Attraction Marketing Work For Your Online Business

Within the last several years, the term "attraction marketing" came into being on the internet. It's not a new marketing concept. TV advertisers have been practicing it for decades. The visual nature of television makes it easy and allows savvy advertising experts to focus viewers' attention on the image that a seller projects more than the product being sold. That's definitely not accidental. The seller comes into the viewer's living room. The image he carries with him is used to develop an immediate and intimate relationship with viewer in her own home. If the image is believable then the relationship becomes in which the viewer now has an interest in what the seller will recommend. Selling the relationship and not the product is the focus and it's been a powerful tool in sales for decades. Attraction marketing uses that same concept on the internet where an image must be created in non-visual ways.Simply defined, attraction marketing is about connecting with your audience. It is NOT about selling to them. It is about establishing value based relationships. With the phenomenal rise of online social media like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, blogs, etc., it's only natural that these same relationship building resources would find their way into the online business world. MLM type businesses, which have traditionally depended on cold calling as a way of finding leads, were among the first to adopt attraction marketing. That makes sense. Instead of beating the street and knocking on doors or manning the phone lines, it's much more pleasurable, not to mention less stressful, when you can attract customers to you. Attraction marketing isn't about finding leads. It's about being an influence on others who in turn will come to you to hear what you have to say. Any online business can benefit from the same concepts that have been around since people began influencing other people. What you want to do is create a desire or interest in someone by relating/connecting to them through written word, through voice and/or visually. It's your reputation, your voice, your image that you want to be known for. If you're respected then people will want to come to you because of who you are and what you represent. So how do you go about it? The very first thing you'll want to do is to plant it firmly in your mind that you'll be giving freely without expectations of anything in return. Keep saying to yourself, "It's better to give than to receive."Once you've got your attitude in order than use some of the social media to reach out to people. There's no reason to try to join every social media type you can think of. Choose just a few. I like forums, blogs and article writing. I do a little on Facebook and some on Twitter but I'm not sure of the value of Twitter just yet. To me, Twitter is too spammy. When you join your groups, you should: 1) Participate and contribute. Answer questions asked. Contribute useful and accurate information. Be kind in your responses. Be polite. Stay patient. Avoid controversial subjects; 2) Avoid the temptation to promote yourself or your product/service in your posts. That will get you a bad reputation real quick; 3) Be genuine about who you are. Don't be afraid to show your passion about what you believe in. That's how people come to know you; 4) Most importantly, have fun!
