Success in MLM - Which Comes First - The Product Or the Opportunity?
There is a growing controversy in the network marketing world, on which "presentation" should you lead off with you new prospect; the business opportunity or the products and services of the company. This answer may determine the success or failure of your MLM business. The Business Opportunity:So you have decided to start with the business opportunity. Lets assume for a minute your prospect is a friend, and has some trust in you as a person. Every company has an opportunity, so what makes yours so special? As you are trying to convince your "friend" you are not only speaking to his conscience mind, but the subconscious mind as well. The subconscious has already gone into "defense" mode, as it's heard this stuff before. You will need to break down the "Walls of Jericho," in about 10 seconds and explain not only how your prospect will make money, but convince the subconscious that it can compete out there with thousands of other companies, and your prospect can be successful like you said.If this was not a person who does not have an ultimate trust in you, just "put that DVD in and press play". Now watch his eyes for that tell tale sign of "just another one of those pyramid schemes"!The Product:Now let's turn it around. You have a product that the prospect has a want, need, or desire for. You are there to help the prospect and show him the benefits of using this product. You are not a salesman, but an "information master" as you answer all his questions. You are leading the prospect into making a decision on whether this product is right for him. If he bases his decision on good information, then you have done an outstanding job.Whether or not your prospect gets your product, the idea that you were a professional helping him to decide sets you aside from "all the others". It doesn't matter if you have known this prospect for 45 years, or 45 seconds, it's all about helping him.Sooner or later his will ask, 'So what's in it for you" and you say "I get a little piece of the action" and immediately change the subject.Again he asks 'So what's in it for you" and you say "I get a nice piece of the action" and immediately change the subject. After this third time, you may say "you've asked me 3 times about my 'piece of the action', I guess you would like a piece of the action too"?.In Conclusion:One method the prospect see's a "pyramid scheme" the other they are asking to join your company. Which method will you be using?
