Building a solid network marketing business is a painful experience.Over the years, I have come to realize that there is a direct correlation between the effort put in and the result that comes out. Network marketing is a painful experience. Anyone who tells you otherwise could be from the planet Krypton.Why is it so painful? If you are working your business to the max, then you will get your share (and more) of unreturned telephone calls and emails from prospects AS WELL AS your own team members (usually a good indicator that they are on their way out of your business). It is physically painful to be stretched to your limit where all of your time is spent focusing on your business. It is mentally draining to pump up deflated egos of team members who have experienced one rejection too many.You do have an option: build your business painfully fast or painfully slow. I recommend painfully fast simply because the great effort you put in now will bring positive results faster.When I first started out in network marketing, I asked my sponsor what I should do if I wanted to build my business quickly. He said I would have to show the business plan once a day. Instead of showing it once a day, I would usually show it three times a day: breakfast, lunch and an evening presentation. It was an exhausting schedule since I was also operating a tour/travel business. But what was even more draining was arranging these presentation meetings. Trust me, I heard my share of, "It isn't one of those pyramid deals, is it?" But, like the Energizer bunny on steroids, I kept going and going and going.Not only did this rather excruciating pace build that business but it proved to be excellent training for my future involvement with other network marketing companies. I remember a leader once comparing the effort required to getting a network marketing business off the ground to that of getting a rocket into orbit. He said it took 90% of a rocket's fuel to blast it into space into its orbit. Similarly when you are first starting out in network marketing, you will expend the greatest amount of your energy getting your business to take off...this being done, you can then throttle back and enjoy the ride.The question you have to ask yourself: do I build my business painfully fast or painfully slow?

How Do You Choose Your MLM Team?

Has anyone given you the advice in MLM, "choose your team wisely?" In a traditional job, unless you are at the very top of the company you don't always get to choose who you work with. Even if you are at the top, you would delegate some hiring authority and eventually end up with some people you might not like, right?In MLM, we build our team by choosing who we want to work with. So what qualities do you want in the people who join your MLM team? How does this differ from the qualities you might seek when hiring someone in a traditional workforce job?Here is what I like to see in new MLM partners:

How does this differ from what we look for in traditional employees? I would say, in almost any job you would like your employees to be motivated, dependable, and hard-working. That's pretty much a given.In some traditional jobs, being self-starting and/or creative is actually not a good thing! Certain jobs must be done exactly the same way every time. You can't "take a stab at it" and get some practice, or come up with your own way of doing it. Yet in MLM these traits are necessary to an extent! If you are going to work from home, you must be able to get started and stay motivated without constant supervision. Being creative, within certain bounds of being coachable, is also necessary. I love Napoleon Hill's description in "Think And Grow Rich" of the two types of creative thinking.Coachable is very important in both MLM and traditional work, especially for someone new. However, in MLM it is important that the person recognizes who they should listen to! There are many people offering to coach. You don't want someone who simply does everything that anyone tells them to do. When you get new team members in MLM, you want to teach them how to think, not what to think. You want them to become critical thinkers, so they will listen to the right people, and ignore the people who aren't capable of helping them. The reason being coachable is so important in MLM, is that MLM is different from the traditional corporate world. Some skills carry over, but new skills need to be developed as well. It is not exactly the same as owning your own traditional business or franchise, either.A good example of combining coachable, creative and self-starting is article writing! If a new team member wants to promote themselves by writing articles, they need some coaching on how to do it. But with that direction, they need to be creative enough to find ideas to write about and self-starting enough to go get it done.In traditional jobs, there are certain positions that can't be done for very long by people with true leadership potential. They will get frustrated by always being the follower and taking orders. In some companies, everyone starts at "the bottom" so they understand the whole system, but those with leadership potential are recognized and promoted. In MLM, you really want everyone to be a potential leader. After all, everyone "owns" their own distributorship and builds their own team. Of course, some will not rise to the occasion. But you certainly want to look for those traits, and attempt to develop them. Many people join MLM, but why? Many times the MLM industry has received less than favourable perceptions, mostly due to unscrupulous people who don't play by the rules and are out to con people into joining illegal ponzi & pyramid schemes. Mention 'MLM' and a large percentage of folks will have a cloud of scepticism descend on their mind.I'd like to ask you, do you think that anyone should join the Network Marketing industry?Briefly lets have a look at some numbers The large majority of society is working for someone else, building their employers empire and probably will do so until the age of 60-65, it seems that the average wage per person each year is around $36,000. Of course there are many people who earn more than this but I am just comparing averages here. Mostly you will be working 35 - 40 hours a week, maybe more in order to keep getting this money from your employer.If we look quickly at the MLM business model. There are many folks who by selling products and developing a team have created an ever growing residual income for themselves. The MLM company that I have partnered with, sells a product that offers incredible value to people's lives. When I have someone join my team as a customer I will then earn commissions of $45 each month. Let's say in a year working myself to the ground I was only able to make 100 sales, that's already $4,500 a month which adds up to $54,000 each year, so already I've gone past the average wage.Naturally I am not going to be content with that I would try for 200, 300 and more sales during the course of a year. But suppose that I recruited 100 people on my front line as distributors who I would earn an average of $15 from every sale that they made, that's another $1,500 a month. Then after that I earn 3% of everything that their distributors sell and this goes on 7 levels deep (the width of my organization is limitless). Now assume that you had a product that transforms people's lives and that the company wide retention rate is 93%.Are you seeing the possibilities here?Also take into consideration that you can now use the internet to build your business, given the technology that is now available. Given the fact that the internet offers us the chance to bring in leads all day long to your business, the power to build a residual income should not be ignored.Now I don't know of any other business model which has the power to build a residual income like this. To avoid giving the impression that MLM is some kind of quick fix money maker I have been conservative in my figures. Massive incomes can be developed but its a long term game plan. Some MLM marketers however are earning in excess of $10K each and every week. As an example my personal sponsor has made over $28K in just two weeks (and he did this from his beach home in Costa Rica) Starting with just a budget of $250 he has gone on to build his own empire over the last 9 months!.
