Gratitude in MLM

I am really grateful for the Internet when it comes to my MLM business! The Internet was not even around when I went to school. In fact, I have an old dictionary from 1974 and "internet" is not even in there as a word! The network marketing industry began before the Internet and many people were successful without it. I've been told that Tom "Big Al" Schreiter built a downline of 100,000 people without computers! But I don't think I could do that.Why do I love the Internet? Let me count the ways!I can email people at times when it might be impolite to call them on the phone
I can send people written information (to avoid errors) instantly
Social media allows me to find people I would never have found without it
Social media allows me to get to know people before I ever talk to them in person
You can block specific annoying people from contacting you
You can attract people to you just by putting things out there
You can research any subject, at any time, without leaving home
You can let people see you only at your best
You can do some work even when you're not feeling your best
You can listen to conference calls later if you can't be on liveI could go on and on of course! Just think about it: how would your business be affected if you had no Internet access? I know that when our Internet access is down, I go crazy! You know that old saying, "you don't know what you've got til it's gone" is SO true!When we were on vacation and I was using my laptop and sharing the wireless network with everyone else at the hotel, I got really annoyed with how slow it was. So to think back to the days when I had no email, no websites to track information for me, no access to training that was recorded when I couldn't call in to listen...I cannot imagine doing business in that environment!Of course, there are some downsides as well:Sometimes we stay online too long and don't exercise or interact with people

How to Become a Successful Business Mum Or Mompreneur

Is life more difficult for women today compared to what it was in days gone by?One hundred years ago women were regarded as second class citizens. They were encouraged to consider the interests of men folk over their own. They were generally reared to become full time wives and mothers. Their options in life were very limited especially for working class girls who had even fewer choices than their middle class counterparts. Education for girls was limited to the 3 R 's namely reading, writing and arithmetic along with a little geography and history. The biggest chunk was allocated to that of domestic subjects such as needlework, house management, cooking, laundry work and childcare.Even though the age for compulsory school attendance raised to fourteen in 1899 many working class girls often left earlier provided that they had the necessary labour certificate that enabled them to enter poorly paid jobs in domestic service. Women were not even regarded as worthy enough to vote which left them powerless to change their circumstances and improve their lives. The way out for many women was to get married and become stay at home mums as their working class husbands would have been against them going out to work.The only contribution that women in these times would have been able to make to supplement the household income would have been to take in laundry or lodgers or to ask neighbours or friends for help.Often women would have large families and would often go without food themselves in order to ensure that the husband got fed. Life was very hard especially as all cleaning tasks involved hard labour as there were none of the household appliances that we now take for granted like our washing machines and vacuum cleaners to name but a few. Heating and cooking was obtained via an open coal fire which involved carrying constant heavy scuttles full of coal. Men did not help women with household chores as this was regarded as being the woman's work.However women began to tire of this treatment and in 1903 Emmaline Pankhurst founded the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was a women's only organisation. They in particular campaigned for women to have the right to vote as they felt this would greatly help improve their conditions. She believed that women "would remain a servant until they lifted themselves out of it". The organisation sought to bring equality for women in the family.In today's times women are still not quite equal but we have travelled a long way from the wretched conditions that existed for women one hundred years ago. Currently it is a fact that 21% of U K women get paid less than men for full time working, there are only 4 female chief executives in the FTSE 100 companies and the 30,000 women are expected to lose their jobs each year due to becoming pregnant.Despite these bleak figures there is no doubt that life is still better now and women have more choices available to them. The introduction of birth control has reduced the burden of women having to rear large families and modern household appliances have reduced or certainly made everyday chores easier to complete. Most houses now have central heating and hot water and more importantly women now have equal access to all forms of education and are no longer regarded as second class citizens.However if could be argued that women have it harder now as quite often they do not have the option of becoming stay at home mums. Most have to return to work after maternity leave as the husband's income alone is often not high enough to cover the household bills. We have sadly become accustomed to the luxuries that two salaries provide namely nice houses, more than one car per family and annual family holidays abroad. Also there is often the need to supplement children who are encouraged to go to university to further their education hence the need for two incomes.Whilst some women welcome going back to work as it offers a welcome change from domestic chores, others resent having to leave their new little bundle of joy and become resentful especially when they have the added pressure of commuting to and from work.There is however an alternative that offers a healthy balance between the two namely finding an opportunity to work from home. There are many business opportunities for women whereby they can start up a business from home. This enables them to have the best of both worlds. They can earn a second income but more importantly they can work flexible hours based around their family needs hence creating more personal and financial freedom. It makes me sad that the attrition rate in MLM is so high. This high turnover rate does cause a lot of people to ponder whether or not they can survive the MLM World.I have a few thoughts about this question. My first thought is about the separation of personal life and work life. I believe there is a time and a place for everything. If you are always in work life mode you are going to turn people off. I've had a few friends over the years who didn't know how to turn off the work mode switch. What would happen is they were always trying to sell me something, either a product or an opportunity. There are so many other topics I'd rather discuss that I left the friendship as it was a relationship providing me with nothing. If you want to build your circle of friends, then you need to find the off switch to your business life.By the very same token, you actually should always be able to switch to work mode. For example, I was at someone's house just recently. We were enjoying a great conversation when she mentioned needing a cake carrier. Of course I offered her a catalog. After that we went right back to chatting about other things.If you're going to survive the MLM world, you need to know how to turn it off and turn it on and you need to know when to turn it off and on.The next thing I believe leads to high attrition is unrealistic expectations. I see ads all of the time that claim you can earn millions in the next thirty days. If anyone could earn millions in thirty days we'd have no more poverty in the world. She actually got two parties. In the end, in her first month she ended up with five parties. She's keeping realistic and going into her second month she hopes to get three parties. I know she can do it.The final point I'd like to bring to your attention is forming new relationships on a regular basis. If you want to survive in MLM you have to continually meet new people. I say hi to new people every single day. I do this both online and offline. I say hi to strangers in the grocery store and I say hi to strangers in a chat room. I continue to build my circle of people I know.I believe if you turn off the work switch at the appropriate times, set realistic expectations and continue to meet new people, you can absolutely survive the MLM world.
